how big is the extra large, and how long does it last?
2000ml. the bottle stands 290mm tall and 140mm across, with 600mm reeds — so allow around 900mm of height in total. it isn't a shelf piece; it wants a console, a floor corner or a wide sideboard.
as a guide, expect somewhere around nine to twelve months, depending on the room, the temperature and how many reeds you use.
should i choose the large or the extra large?
the extra large is built for open-plan spaces, big living rooms and hallways with high ceilings, and it reads as an object in its own right. the 500ml large is the everyday size for bedrooms, landings and ordinary rooms. if you're buying for a shelf or a bedside table, take the large.
how do i set the reeds up?
put all the reeds in, leave them an hour or two to draw the oil up, then turn them over once. after that, flip them every week or two to refresh the scent — that's all it needs.
wash your hands after handling the reeds, and don't put used reeds back in the bottle.
can i make it stronger, or make it last longer?
yes — it's controlled by the reeds. more reeds means a stronger scent that gets through the oil faster; fewer reeds means something subtler that lasts longer. start with about half and add more if you want more.
where's the best place to put it?
somewhere with a little air movement — a hallway, a landing, near a doorway — rather than a still corner. keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, which will burn through the oil quickly.
stand it on a coaster or tray. fragrance oil can mark wood, painted surfaces and polished stone if it drips or is knocked.
is it safe around children and pets?
keep it out of reach of children and animals, and don't put it somewhere it can be knocked over. the oil is an irritant if it's swallowed, or if it gets on skin or in eyes.
can i return it if i don't like the scent?
only if it's still sealed. once a diffuser has been opened we can't take it back for hygiene and safety reasons, unless it's faulty. unopened, you have 14 days from delivery — see make a return.
