what does deia smell like?
sandalwood and vanilla, with delicate orange blossom over the top. it's warm and slightly sweet rather than fresh — the feeling of a sun-warmed mallorcan garden. it suits bedrooms, hallways and anywhere you want the air to feel soft.
how long does the large last?
500ml. as a guide, around three to four months — longer if you use fewer reeds, shorter in a warm or draughty room.
which room should i put it in?
it's the everyday size: bedrooms, landings, hallways and sitting rooms. for an open-plan space or a large living room the 2000ml extra large will carry further.
what else is in the balearic collection?
deia sits alongside eulalia — east ibizan — and salinas — menorcan. eulalia is warmer and spicier, salinas is fresher and saltier.
how do i set the reeds up?
put all the reeds in, leave them an hour or two to draw the oil up, then turn them over once. after that, flip them every week or two to refresh the scent — that's all it needs.
wash your hands after handling the reeds, and don't put used reeds back in the bottle.
can i make it stronger, or make it last longer?
yes — it's controlled by the reeds. more reeds means a stronger scent that gets through the oil faster; fewer reeds means something subtler that lasts longer. start with about half and add more if you want more.
where's the best place to put it?
somewhere with a little air movement — a hallway, a landing, near a doorway — rather than a still corner. keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, which will burn through the oil quickly.
stand it on a coaster or tray. fragrance oil can mark wood, painted surfaces and polished stone if it drips or is knocked.
is it safe around children and pets?
keep it out of reach of children and animals, and don't put it somewhere it can be knocked over. the oil is an irritant if it's swallowed, or if it gets on skin or in eyes.
can i return it if i don't like the scent?
only if it's still sealed. once a diffuser has been opened we can't take it back for hygiene and safety reasons, unless it's faulty. unopened, you have 14 days from delivery — see make a return.
