frequently asked
what does petra smell like?
pink pepper over cedarwood and patchouli — rich, softly spicy and grounding. it's the deepest scent in the sences range and the one that reads as most expensive in a room. best in living rooms, studies and hallways.
what is the stone lid?
travertine — a natural stone, so the veining and tone differ slightly on every piece. it echoes the sandstone of petra itself and means the bottle still looks considered when the reeds are out.
how big is the extra large, and how long does it last?
2200ml. the bottle is 280mm tall and 115mm square, with 600mm reeds — a console or floor piece rather than a shelf one. as a guide, around nine to twelve months.
why is petra more than the other extra larges?
the travertine stone lid and the fragrance blend itself. the other extra large diffusers use a standard closure.
how do i set the reeds up?
put all the reeds in, leave them an hour or two to draw the oil up, then turn them over once. after that, flip them every week or two to refresh the scent — that's all it needs.
wash your hands after handling the reeds, and don't put used reeds back in the bottle.
can i make it stronger, or make it last longer?
yes — it's controlled by the reeds. more reeds means a stronger scent that gets through the oil faster; fewer reeds means something subtler that lasts longer. start with about half and add more if you want more.
where's the best place to put it?
somewhere with a little air movement — a hallway, a landing, near a doorway — rather than a still corner. keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators, which will burn through the oil quickly.
stand it on a coaster or tray. fragrance oil can mark wood, painted surfaces and polished stone if it drips or is knocked.
is it safe around children and pets?
keep it out of reach of children and animals, and don't put it somewhere it can be knocked over. the oil is an irritant if it's swallowed, or if it gets on skin or in eyes.
can i return it if i don't like the scent?
only if it's still sealed. once a diffuser has been opened we can't take it back for hygiene and safety reasons, unless it's faulty. unopened, you have 14 days from delivery — see make a return.
how quickly will it arrive?
orders are packed and dispatched within 2–3 working days. uk delivery is free over £75, or £5.99 below that.
